Word of Knowledge - 2

In a past post, I established that the Word of Knowledge is a word or fragment of knowledge given or manifested by God to an individual for a specific purpose. Through the different operations and administrations of the Spirit, it may be manifested in different ways. In the case of Ananias in Acts 9, it was in vision form. In Acts 10, we also see the vision form when the Spirit revealed that certain men sought to speak to Peter.

The vision form of the gift is more rare than the inward witness. Jesus, HImself, exhibited the inward witness form of the manifestation when he spoke to the woman at the well in John 4. The word of knowledge was also manifested in this way with Peter in Acts 5:1-5. In those passages, Peter became divinely aware that Ananias was lying about the land that he had sold. Ananias’s lie was a present fact known to the mind of God, but divinely revealed to Peter.

In my own life, I have experienced the word of knowledge in manifestation. In one of the most dramatic examples, a woman known as a “prophet” came to pray over me. As she laid her hand on me, she repeated verbatim some statements I had made to college friends a few weeks earlier. By that manifestation, God glorified Jesus and also confirmed other things that he had spoken to me about the future.
