Sometimes You’ve Just Gotta Laugh
I ran across the Blog Readability Test and couldn’t resist putting in some of the blogs of guys that are a lot smarter than me. The Blog Readability Test locates what level of education is required to understand your blog. Here are some of the results:
- The Real Faith - High School Level
- Smythe Law Firm - Genius
- Phil Cooke’s Blog - Junior High School
- Greg Boyd’s Blog - High School
- The Sound of Thunder - College (Undergrad)
- Earnestly Desire - Genius
With all our Greek, King James, quoting of preeminent theologians and the like, The Real Faith only musters a high school reading level. From the looks of it, I should definitely keep my day job. And, sorry Phil, I tried and tried to find another Junior High School blog, but my fingers just gave out.
[Phil’s blog is absolutely excellent whether you’ve graduated junior high or just didn’t make it that far.]
Looks like I’ve got a High School blog too.
I’m sure that Phil will be pleased with his Junior High ranking. He’s a great communicator and part of communicating is making your message accessible to the widest possible audience without dumbing down the thoughts behind it. Phil does that so well.
Not a problem from here. I’m used to writing for TV, which research indicates the audiences average a 7th grade reading level. Apparently my Ph.D. doesn’t do me much good… (But at least a lot of people can understand what I’m writing… :-)
And here I thought I was communicating to the masses. Guess that shows how really smart I’m not!
Wow ! I’m embarrased with my “elementary level” blog. Thanks for helping me to not think so highly of myself. Maybe if I keep reading you higher level bloggers I’ll advance to the next level. Anyway I’ll just hang my head and laugh at myself.
I was dead chuffed when my own blog was rated as Elementary School. (UK Masters Degree in Engineering not withstanding!)
