The End of Times and Coming Apocalypse

Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness - (1 Thessalonians 5.1-11, NASB)

For years I kept my head low while hearing various preachers preach on what we call the End Times. Keeping my head low was a good thing as many of them predicted that Jesus would return by the end of 1988.

In recent years, End Times preaching has stirred up again, but again it appears that the preachers are missing it. In my camp, there has been a groundswell of preachers who have come out saying that the Jews don’t need to get saved. In fact, many “Word” churches have even hosted “Bless Israel” services where congregations are told not to proselytize (preach the Gospel to the Jews) and to give money to PACs in order to fulfill God’s covenant. This teaching is not only as error-prone as the predictions for 1988, it is doubly harmful because it renounces the Great Commission to a large swath of people.

With the winding up of the tithing podcasts, it may be worthwhile to do some End Times preaching.  Such preaching doesn’t exalt the Jews, but in fact exalts the Lord.

    John,

    Thanks for the comment.

As I’m not really a series-kind-of -guy, this should actually be a lot more fun (for me, at least).

    Peter,
I’m not really an ipod kind of a guy. I don’t suppose you could be talked into doing some writing on the topic? I’m doing some posting (and preaching) on it myself right now.
    We’ll have to compare notes.

It’s hard for me to believe that anyone could teach that Jews don’t need to get saved. What about John 14:6 don’t they get? Can you drop a name?

    slw,

It’d probably be a good idea for me to stick with one topic and write and podcast on it at the same time.

You’ll see some quotes as jumping off points as usual.

I’m a Jewish believer myself and I’m so thankful that people brought the Gospel to me. I consider myself a
Christian and I believe salvation is offered to all in only one way……through Jesus. The approach may have to be altered a bit and it is important to be sensitive to the fact that many unsaved Jewish people mentally/emotionally equate “Christian”
with “Nazi” and don’t really understand Christ and have
been thus been turned off to the Gospel message, which, obviously, they never really received. They DO
need to hear the real Gospel, but
in a Spirit-led loving manner. Thanks for your blog. I also request help with the teaching that faith
grows by confessing the word and that we need to only confess the Word and positive things……..is this
    teaching distorted, partially
true, or what? I hope you can do a teaching on the ideas about faith and confession and seeing what is Biblically true and balanced. Thanks.
