Revving Up the Podcast Machine

by Smythe on November 12, 2008

After talking to my wife about the direction of the site and my other interests, I decided that it was time to rev up the podcast machine.  In the past, the podcasts supported the written articles.  The majority of my time was consumed with the long articles that make up the majority of the site.  After reviewing the site’s stats and readers’ interests, it is obvious that it really should be the other way around - the written articles should support the podcasts.  So, while I’ll continue writing, there will be a better ratio of podcasts to articles than there is now.

Site Changes

I recently had to upgrade the site to the latest and greatest version of Wordpress.  The upgrade is likely going to require a makeover as my present template doesn’t seem to be supported any longer.  I plan to keep the Black/White motif, but don’t be surprised to see some changes soon.  Hopefully I’ll be able to find a template that allows me to incorporate more photographs.  I’m not fond, at all, of the use of stock photographs for church and ministry sites.  I plan to use the real stuff here.

Interesting Peter, I spent a couple hours just this morning listening to the four podcasts on Tithing and the Gospel of Christ series. Excellent job. Bruce

Bruce,

Thanks for the compliment. You ought to start your own blog - I can’t keep up with you.

This sounds great, although I must admit it is easier to scan an article to get the idea of what you are saying that it is to take the time to listen. However I did enjoy the podcasts that I heard. Looking forward to the changes. Remember, black is beautiful but so is red(and yellow, green, etc).

Larry,

Thanks for the comment.

Personally, I like the books, but the stat numbers show the podcasts are more popular by a margin of more than 50:1. If I have the time, I hope to supplement the gist of the podcasts with some articles. We’ll see how it works.
