Comment Policy

Opening a preaching site to comments is taking a wide walk on the wild side because some of you have been too quiet for too long and you can’t wait to have your say, but I’ve decided to walk that road. So I welcome and appreciate comments and have been pleased to see that many of the essays have sprouted full-fledged discussions in the comments. These conversations often provide as much, if not more, value to the original piece (no, I’m not afraid of being one-upped). Please feel free to comment as much as you want to add insight, value, or even a little bit of humor. Unfortunately, some folks just don’t “get” it and insist on posting inappropriate or off-topic comments or engaging in contentious debate. Because of this, I reserve the right to eviscerate those comments from the planet (at least as far as this site is concerned).

The following are some of the more blatant reasons that will cause your comment to be blasted to kingdom come:

  • Obscene or racist comments
  • Belligerent comments, whether towards us or others
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
  • Private and personal information published without consent
  • Hyperlinks to material that is not directly related to the content of our post
  • Plain ungodly mishmash

I take the accusations of “heretic” and “blasphemer” seriously. To level such an accusation on this site about anybody, the full exegesis of the relevant passages should be produced along with the well-founded reasons why the preaching of that particular man or woman, present parties included, is leading the faithful to eternal damnation (in the objective sense). In this way, readers can study the treatment of the Word and the preaching and decide for themselves whether the charge is justified or not. If, in my sole discretion, I deem that you haven’t justified your slander, I’ll yank your comment and may ban you from further commenting on this site.

Anyone is free to disagree with me, or other commenters, as long as it is done politely and in order. But I will not entertain challenges to “take it outside,” useless ad hominem comments, the use of this site as a personal soapbox or the use of this site to link to personal sites. I’m interested in getting it right and want to know if I’ve missed it, but there is a universe of difference between pointing out that two plus two doesn’t equal five and calling down curses on some theological construction of meaning. I will also say up front that I’ve studied, believe in, experienced, and have had demonstrated the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, divine healing, and the manifestations of the Spirit as elucidated in 1 Corinthians 12 so questions as to the scriptural validity of those doctrines won’t get you anywhere here.

Remember also that comments published here are routinely spidered and archived in numerous search engines and databases. Don’t post anything here that you would be ashamed to have others find later.

And because this is a preaching site allowing virtually any Tom, Dick, or Harry (including even other ministers) to post comments, I say loud and clear: Comments left on this blog by third parties are solely the opinions of the individuals that leave them. I do not necessarily endorse, condone, sponsor, or agree with comments on this site, even if I leave them up for others to see.

Since this is my site (bought and paid for), I reserve the right, at any time, to moderate comments prior to posting, including the evisceration of any comments or statements that I don’t like or don’t want to have published. If I do initiate moderation, please be patient as I attempt to figure out if you have violated any of the stated or unstated policies.

If you have second thoughts about one of your published comments, just let me know which one it is and I’ll delete it for you.

One last thing - don’t go into emotional withdrawal if you’d like a response from me, but never see one. While I do read every comment posted, there is just not enough time in the day for me to respond to each of them and continue to publish with the frequency that I do.
