Born Again?

if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10.9-10, NASB)

Is this all I have to do to be saved? Yes.

Are you kidding me? No.

God has done everything necessary for you to be saved by that simple confession.

At the dawn of mankind, the first man, Adam, defied God and ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. By committing this act, Adam’s very nature became sin-laden and corrupted. God subsequently told Adam that a Saviour would come to save mankind. That Saviour would actually be the second person of the Godhead.

Two thousand years ago Jesus emptied Himself of His glory and was born as a baby in Bethlehem. He grew into a man and prophesied that He would have to die and be raised again in order to save mankind from his corrupted nature. The Bible, God’s Word to us, demonstrates that Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified on a wooden cross and upon that cross man’s sin was “made to light on Him.” Consequently, He died as our substitute, “apart from God.” On the third day, He was raised to new life by God, the Father. The Word tells us that we may also have this new life if we believe that God did, in fact, resurrected Him, and we confess Jesus as our Lord.

Salvation, the New Birth, is nothing that can be earned; it is strictly a gift. When a man executes Romans 10:9, he is relying upon the perfect work and sacrifice that Jesus performed two thousand years ago. There is nothing more to do to be saved. When that confession is made, the man is born-again of God’s very own nature. He is a new man who stands before God like he has never been tainted with the stain of sin, guilt, or inferiority. He is a member of God’s own family.

If you have prayed that prayer, please let us know. If you need a Bible, we’ll get one to you and give you materials about your new life in God.
